When it comes to exotic foods, Philippines has so much to offer for your appetite. One of the most proudest exotic food in the Philippines is BALUT egg. It is the most creative food in the world which give tourist awesome impressions. If you taste this kind of exotic food, surely you wouldn't forget.

Let me explain to you what is BALUT like and where is it came from. BALUT or BALOT is a developing duck embryo that is boiled alive and eaten in the shell. Many Filipinos believe that this food is also an aphrodisiac food. It can be bought mostly in the streets in the Philippines see this link for full detail http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balut_(egg).

This food has high protein and complex nutrients. In cooking industry, several restaurants have introduced this kind of food with a twist and comes up with a creative and impressive way of a typical balut. I love to eat this kind of food. Well it doesn't taste nasty as it looks. Mostly, you can see balut vendors sell this kind of food past 5 in the afternoon until dawn.
                                                                         inside the Balut

Actually it tastes best especially when you match it in vinegar and a pinch of salt. It's the kind of food where you should eat stationary. Either you can take home or eat where you brought. Actually, it leaves a strong smell fishy in your hands so make sure you better have an alcohol so that it don't stink. Bring also a breath freshener or candy for your mouth to avoid bad breath if you eat this outdoor.

Most of the provinces, this food is commonly as appetizer preferred in alcoholic beverage or they called it as a "PULUTAN" in Filipino language. Most tourist visits in the Philippines may find eating this "yucky"/ awful food at first but when they taste it, it's NOT. But when you try this, it's actually great! Your adventurous trip will not be complete if you don't try this. Well, try this exotic food and you will never forget how IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES.
